Nigel’s PMO cash drawer

06/07/2013 by backofthebook.ca

Duffy, WrightBy Montreal Simon

First they told us that Nigel Wright cut a $90,000 cheque to help his old pal Mike Duffy.

Because he’s that kind of guy eh?

Then when it turned out the two men hardly knew each other, they claimed Wright did it to save the taxpayers.

But what they didn’t tell us was that he controlled a secret PMO fund.

CBC News has learned that Stephen Harper’s former chief of staff, Nigel Wright, had control of a secret fund in the Prime Minister’s Office when he cut the now infamous $90,000 “personal cheque” to disgraced Senator Mike Duffy.

Officials in Harper’s office and the party deny the money Wright gave to Duffy came from the secret PMO fund. But no one is denying the fund could have been used to reimburse Wright at a later date, had the deal with Duffy not erupted into a public scandal.

And that as they say changes EVERYTHING. It makes that shady deal look even less like an act designed to save the taxpayers, and more like an act of political expediency, that the taxpayers might have helped SUBSIDIZE.

The act of a ruthless Con operative who was desperate to save his party and his boss further embarrassment.

It also begs the question: what did Duffy agree to do in return for the money? For let’s not forget that the very next day after Old Duff got the dough, he stopped cooperating with the Senate audit.

And that in one of his e-mails he claimed that the PMO had told him to keep his mouth shut.

For I find it very hard to believe that Duffy would get $90,000 AND a promise the Senate would go easy on him, in return for NOTHING.

Unless of course they were afraid of Duffy, for as you know he does LOVE to tell stories.

They tell me if you buy him a drink he’ll tell you three or four that will make your hair stand on end. Or wonder how such depravity could happen in a dull place like Ottawa.

And as we all know, Stephen Harper and his PMO boys take a VERY dim view of that . . .

For if the members of their own Con gang started squealing on them, it might be really embarrassing.

Recent allegations concerning expense scandals and the Government’s response has been extremely troubling. I joined the Reform/conservative movements because I thought we were somehow different, a band of Ottawa outsiders riding into town to clean the place up, promoting open government and accountability. I barely recognize ourselves, and worse I fear that we have morphed into what we once mocked.

My constituents demand better. My constituents simply do not care what somebody, who they hope will never become Prime Minister, did or didn’t do seventeen years ago. They do care, however, about the relations between a sitting Senator and Langevin Block (PMO).

And make Great Ugly Leader look even MORE like a liar and a smear artist.

“Mr. Speaker, the fact of the matter is this. I expected that if any member of the caucus, any senator, had expenses that were inappropriate, that that member would repay those expenses. I was also informed, as all Canadians were, that that was in fact what had transpired. We now learn, we learned much later, that is not the case.

“As soon as I learned that was not the case, I made that information public, the very same day,” Mr. Harper recalled at one point. “I did not wait 17 years. The leader of the opposition knew of bribe attempts by the mayor of Laval. We did not wait 17 years for an entire culture of corruption in Quebec contracting to finally tell the truth.”

Or a political thug who is now so desperate he’s capable of ANYTHING.

And that should make all Canadians wonder if he’s going to such lengths to cover-up a Senate scandal, what other even more horrible things is he HIDING?

Yup. If we can’t have a public inquiry then only the police can sort this one out eh?

For it should be obvious to all decent Canadians, that whatever is going on in the Harper PMO, it is a mortal threat to our democracy.

And only the truth can set us free.

Save our country from this mob. End this living nightmare.

And put The Great Corrupter where he belongs . . .
